Design Studio- Anatomy of Space

Brief 2- For this module we are focusing on reusing existing space, the site is a property based on College Lane which will be refurbished and we are required to design and develop solutions for a live/work space for a specific user. We have visited the property and have taken many photos, measurements and developed ideas. I have three ideas to what character and narrative I can use for this particular site, I am thinking of a Psychological therapy and counselling office, Dentist or a tutoring environment for creative art students where students can either offer to tutor or to be tutored. I will be researching into these different ideas and will choose one to focus on.

Site visit for C&CS Module

As part of our essay writing for our C&CS module I have chosen title 5 which is to 'compare the concept of the home in two different cultures, exploring the cultural, social, geographical and technological factors.'

In order to collect information we were asked to go on a self-directed visit, so I chose to visit the V&A museum as I thought that I would be able to find relevant information relating to my essay question. I am focusing on Italy and China and have done many researches already, I have taken out many books from the LRC. Yesterday I gained more information especially on China. I have taken many photos and notes to help me put my essay together.

Inspiration- Gardens of Persia!

I came across the Gardens of Persia whilst looking through a magazine at the GP:D I loved the design of the gardens as a whole.
The tradition and style in the design of Persian gardens has influenced the design of gardens from Andalusia to India and beyond!
The Persian Gardens at Pasargadae were built in accordance with mathematically based geometric designs. The garden included channels of 900 meters which was constructed of carved limestone which transported water throughout the garden. The transportation was essentially a cultured irrigation system containing stone water-channels and open ditches that were designed to channel water into small basins at every 15 meters within the garden.

Charles and Ray Eames Mood board

This is my A1 mood board which we had to create for our Technology module- Brief 1.
I have researched into the work of Charles and Ray Eames, and have shown this through using images, materials such as aluminium foil to represent their work of aluminium outdoor group, textile and graphics design, exhibitions, movies etc.

Communication 1: Representing Space-

First assesment which we handed in on Monday 22nd October, including 20 sketches relating to Letchworth Garden City and a few of our own.. We had to use different drawing techniques, materials, format etc.. Even though I haven't studied anything relating to art after my GCSEs I am quite impressed with my sketch book:)))
 Drawing of The Spirella Building..

 Sketch of my dining room..

A collage I made as part of the assesment which represents Letchworth.. I researched on other architects and designers to give me inspiration. I also used real sweets which I purchased from the sweet shop in Letchworth!
